Past
The Fair came into being as the Warnervale & Districts Spring Fair in October 1999. It was a partnership initiative between Wyong Shire Council, Warnervale Family and Community Centre and the community, and was developed as way of bringing people together to bond as a community and celebrate living in the area.
A committee was formed under the chairmanship of Dawn Brown from Wyong Council and other representatives from various community groups including the Uniting Church, Scouts Australia and Lions to name a few.
At the time of inception, the Fair was a very small concern consisting of a sausage sizzle, a few stalls, and the local school's children singing. The Fair since then has undergone many transitions. In 2006 it was decided that the Fair undergo a name change so that it could be held at any time of year, as wet weather associated with spring often threatened postponement of the Fair. For the past 3 years the Fair has found its place during March, proving to be most favourable.
As our community has expanded and grown, so too has the Fair and now includes quality rides and activities which are subsidised by generous sponsors to make the day affordable for families, as well as providing many other free activities and entertainment.
Present and Future
The one thing that has remained unwavering is the objective to provide a fun-filled family day out that brings the community together to socialise, enjoy local talent, to gain information and just celebrate living in the district.
In 2010 the organising committee is launched its new mission statement: "For the Community, by the Community" as the committee members are local residents who volunteer their time with passion and enthusiasm toward its planning. The dedication of these volunteers is what makes this event the great day that it is.
Future plans for the Fair are to keep it growing and moving forward and the establishment of the website as well as a Facebook page are two other examples of our vision for Warnervale Annual Fair. Since the 2010 Fair the Fair has undergone a further step in its development by becoming an incorporated body as the Warnervale Annual Fair Incorporated. In 2012 the Fair enters a new stage by being moved to Sunday to allow patrons more time to attend away from the pressures of Saturday sport and shopping.
New volunteers are always welcomed and appreciated to our committee and are necessary for the future of this outstanding event. If you think you would like to join our team of organisers with your particular brand of skill or expertise or if you have suggestions you wish to put forward about the Fair, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@warnervalefair.org.au
